Fluid Mechanics

Buoyancy & Archimedes' Principle

Set the object's density and volume, then change the fluid. Watch whether it floats or sinks, how deep it rides, and how the upward buoyant force compares with its weight.

Result

Floats when object density < fluid density. At rest a floating object displaces exactly its own weight of fluid, so buoyant force = weight and apparent weight = 0.
